Here are the current classes Nicholas will be running in 2025. We will update this page as classes are added.
Class: Tongs in Simplicity
Skill Level: Beginner and Beyond
Date: October 25th – 26th, 2025
Location: Peters Valley School of Craft
In this workshop, participants will explore some of the simplest ways to create their own set of tongs. These tools may be simple, but they are integral to any blacksmith. All levels are welcome.

Class: A Light in the Dark
Skill Level: Intermediate, Advanced
Date: November 16th-21st, 2025
Location: John C. Campbell Folkschool
What will you do if the lights go out? Before electric lights were common in most homes, candles were used to keep the darkness at bay. Explore candle stands and rush lights used in the 18th-century. Using traditional forging techniques, make your own combination candle/rush light. Intermediate to advanced students welcome; should have a basic understanding of forging iron in order to keep up with the pace of this project.
